Visitor Commitment
Site of Heritage and Ecological Value
Espace NAPAGA — A Site to Protect
Espace NAPAGA is an accredited museum institution whose mission is to protect, study, and interpret the Pabos archaeological site — designated as a heritage site (French only) by Québec’s ministère de la Culture et des Communications for its historical, ethnological, and archaeological value. Its goal is to highlight the site’s significance in the history of Québec and of the region.
Visitors will discover an exceptional natural setting whose heritage and ecological value must be preserved. This fragile environment holds remarkable archaeological and historical potential that could be damaged or lost through inappropriate actions or behaviour.
Therefore, upon entering Espace NAPAGA, and for the entire duration of their visit or stay, all visitors agree to abide by the Espace NAPAGA Code of Conduct.
Code of conduct
- I understand that the entire Espace NAPAGA site is private property, owned and managed by the non-profit organization Corporation du Bourg de Pabos.
- I commit to not touching publicly accessible remains (such as the King’s Mill, the well, or the seigneurial fireplace) or any displayed artifacts.
- I commit to minimizing my impact on the environment to protect the site’s archaeological and ecological resources.
- I commit to respecting the archaeological heritage by not altering the soil, disturbing the surface layer, digging in any way, or using a metal detector.
- I will not move, take, or remove any resources from the site, whether archaeological or natural (plants, rocks, sand, etc.).
- If, by chance, I discover a potential artifact or remains, I will immediately notify a staff member. I will not touch it and will clearly indicate its location.
- I will stay on designated and marked trails at all times.
- I commit to leaving the site in the same condition as when I arrived.
- I will dispose of my waste in the bins provided.
- I will report any violation I witness by promptly notifying a site staff member.
My collaboration is invaluable in preserving and protecting the rich heritage of the Pabos archaeological site at Espace NAPAGA. Thanks to my respectful gestures and behaviours, knowledge can be passed on to future generations who will also be able to enjoy this ancestral natural environment.
