Pabos is an adaptation of the Mi\u2019kmaq term \u201cPabok\u201d, which means \u201cstill waters\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Since the 1700s, the area has been part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.routedelamorue.com\/membre\/le-bourg-de-pabos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Route de la Morue (Cod Route)<\/a>. Fishermen from the Basque Country stopped here to rest, stock up on supplies, and dry their catch on the barachois.<br>The seigneury of Grand-Pabos and the history of its inhabitants have left their mark on the development of New France, the Gasp\u00e9, and Quebec.
